Chronic Illness Travel Must Haves

Over Easter weekend, I went to Center Parks with my family and while packing I noticed how many must haves I have for travelling.  Last year I went abroad 3 times so I’d like to think Im a packing pro now (minus the time I left my suitcase at home and lived with only my hand luggage for a week but lets ignore that!) and I also made a mental note to remember what products I did end up using so I could compile them into a list.

1. Eye mask

I used to use a black silk eye mask but it would slip up sometimes and then it wasn't totally blackout, so I treated myself to a new blackout one with holes for your eyes. These types of masks are perfect if you have lash extensions or a lash lift because you can fully open your eyes when you are wearing it. I bought it because I thought it would be more comfortable and more blackout and I am highly impressed! Its amazing if you are a light sleeper like I am and there are so many different patterns and colours on Amazon where I got mine.

2. Tens machine

I personally have 2 tens machines. The first one I bought is a little travel one I used for my neck but then I upgraded to a proper tens machine for all over pain. But for travel I prefer my mini one. I bought mine years ago and its still working great. You just replace the sticky pads every few months and charge it as needed. I cant fine the link to mine but I’ve found another one that is really similar that you can find here.

3. Tiger balm

When I die Im getting buried with a tub of tiger balm! It took me years to try it but once I did I became addicted. Im allergic to ibuprofen gel so I’m so happy theres a natural alternative. It completely cools the area you apply it to and it smells amazing. The only downfall is it takes a lot to wash it off your hands but it does come in a tube form that you just rub onto the skin but I prefer the pot version.

4. Sea bands

I get really bad travel sickness so I cant go in the car unless Im wearing my sea bands. For long journeys I also take travel sickness medication which is life saving!! But I highly recommend sea bands as they are drug free and anyone can use them.

5. Neck pillow & memory foam seat pillow

Buying a foam seat pillow had been a game changer. Sitting in the car really triggers my fibromyalgia pain so a few months ago I invested in a memory foam seat pillow and its made a world of a difference. I believe it was around £30 from Amazon and worth every penny. You can use it to sit on or use it behind your back for more support.

6. 4head

4head is another life saving product for me. I suffer with migraines so I always carry a 4head stick in my bag just incase. I also use it on my neck when its sore and it works really well. I have one in my bedside table and one in my handbag.

7. Pill organisers

If you suffer with brain fog like I do then you must use pill organisers. I have one for my vitamins for the morning and a different one for my night time medication. Pill organisers also free up space in your luggage because you don't have to pack every box of medication which can be very bulky.

I hope this post is useful for anyone who is travelling soon. If you have any other travel essentials feel free to comment them down below.
